FORMER COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETES' STORIES OF THEIR TRANSITION TO

LIFE AFTER SPORT

How do they relate to

their career identity status?

This study aims to examine relationships between the career identity structures of former college athletes, their psychosocial functioning, and their transition experiences through interviews with prototypic exemplars of each identity status. Former college athletes will be invited to participate in an interview to share their transition experience to life after sport. This study will provide theoretical and practical insights on the identity reformation processes and psychosocial functioning of an understudied, yet a very important stakeholder group of NCAA college sport, its former student-athletes.
