SPORT CAREER TRANSITION COURSE
Here is an abbreviated syllabus for the Sport Career Transition course we teach to UF student-athletes.
Experiential activities may include job shadowing, informational interviews, on and off campus exploratory activities, career fair participation, networking events, and career documents (e.g., resume, cover letter, elevator pitches, etc...).
In-class activities may include self-awareness exercises, strengths assessment, journaling, awareness of mental health issues, future self planning, career exploration activities, transferable skills reflections, and career planning exercises.
As part of the course assessment, we determine their identity status via interviews and assess their career exploration, commitment to a career plan, career decision-making self-efficacy, locus of control toward career planning, and athletic identity at the beginning and end of the course.

TRANSITION PROGRAM EVALUATION
The career identity development model is used for the purpose of transition program evaluation. Educational programming around the transition to life after sport is designed to enhance participants’ career identity capital, which should in turn facilitate the development of their career identity and improve career and psychosocial functioning.
